Video technology guideline Which video camera should I buy? Mini-DV cameras still seem the best option for the use within schools. They are the best choice if you want to edit the material afterwards. Mini-DVDs or harddisc cameras have a nice and quick access but the video material is more compressed with loss of quality during editing. High definition is not properly established yet. An external microphone input is very important for good sound. What video editing software is appropriate? Moviemaker (comes free with Windows XP) can be a first introduction to editing. Studio 10, Premiere Elements or iMovie are the next level and offer more possibilities for editing and exporting. These are more than enough for video work in school.
